A free, downloadable advanced satellite imagery viewer (CGDI Viewer Prototype) has been developed that will work interactively with CGDI data. With the possibility of running on a wide variety of computers and containing a number of data and image manipulation functions, the viewer supports the interaction, fusion and analysis of information.

OpenEV in a Nutshell

  • OpenEV is an application for viewing and analyzing raster and vector geospatial data
  • Prototype development supported by GeoConnections (CCRS) and J-2 Geomatics (DND)
  • Rapidly displays very large images (> 100 MB)
  • Manages multiple layers of vector and raster data (single or multi-channel; real or complex)
  • Lightweight, user-friendly tool runs on most popular platforms (Windows, Solaris, Irix, Linux)
  • Leverages commodity hardware acceleration
  • Supports WYSIWYG printed output
  • Supports on-the-fly projection
  • Provides high-performance access to various file formats using GDAL (Geospatial Data Abstraction Library)
